More Throwbacks - Venice, San Marino, Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoreggio, Rome at dusk

Just a few noteworthy mentions: As you can see from the photos - Venice is beautiful, but I think I appreciate it more now, looking at the pics. It was so crowded and felt like such a tourist trap while we were there, that I honestly could not wait to get out. I would recommend a day trip or going in a really really low season (but then you get the less than favorable weather).

San Marino is breathtaking and really a different world. The only place in my travels that I was approached by a couple of middle-aged locals asking me if they could be of assistance locating our hotel. People are so incredibly friendly there. We stayed at a lovely Hostaria da Lino (great dinner and breakfast) in the old center and right at the entrance to the hike up to the castle. Really really worth a visit - so do not overlook San Marino on your travels.

 Civita di Bagnoregio :)

 Orvieto :)
